¿Qué recuerda del país de hace ocho años? ¿Cómo lo ve hoy? ¿Mejor, igual o peor? ¿Cómo pasará el presidente George W. Bush a la historia?
Como en toda democracia en esta también tenemos unas personas a favor y otras en contra del gobierno que se va.

El Hijo de Dios dijo: “Por sus frutos los conoceréis”. Luego de ocho años, los frutos de esta administración están a la vista.

Una encuesta realizada por el diario español El País entre 109 historiadores, arroja los siguientes resultados: 107 consideran un fracaso la presidencia de Bush, y 61% lo califica como “el peor presidente de la historia del país”.

Los frutos:
Una economía lenta, llena de especulación y anémica de confianza. Una política exterior deslucida, el liderazgo de la nación más poderosa del mundo, bajo la duda. Dos guerras que consumen las vidas de miles de soldados y billones de dólares. Un desempleo que bordea el 8%. Millones de trabajadores indocumentados viviendo bajo las sombras y el temor. Miles de familias separadas por ineficientes leyes de inmigración. Un sistema financiero completamente roto y una banca semi-nacionalizada.

Pero, la hora más obscura de la noche es la más cercana al amanecer y hoy el país está listo para pasar la página y crear una nueva oportunidad. La luz del cambio vuelve a brillar. La Reforma Migratoria Integral resucita y con ella la esperanza de un futuro mejor para los indocumentados.

Ahora, el nuevo gobierno necesita del apoyo de todos los que creemos que con trabajo, honradez y sacrificio podemos alcanzar el éxito. Con nuestro apoyo podrán, poco a poco implementar algunos de los cambios prometidos durante la campaña.

Los latinos aquí y a lo largo y ancho de la nación debemos seguir construyendo el país, para que éste siga siendo la tierra de las oportunidades para el beneficio de nuestros hijos y nietos.

El Dr. James Dobson en su libro Amor para Toda la Vida asegura:
“Muchas cosas son posibles para los que tienen esperanza. Aún más es posible para aquellos que tienen fe. Y hasta aún muchísimo más para los que saben amar. Pero todo es posible para aquellos que reúnen las tres virtudes”.

New government, new hope

What do you remember about the US of eight years ago? How do you see it today? Better, the same, or worse? How would president George W. Bush be judged by history?

As in other democracy here we have some people in favor and others against the departing administration.

The Son of God said: “For their fruits you will know them” After eight years, the fruits of this administration are open for everyone to see.

A survey done by the Spanish newspaper El Pais among 109 historians gives the following result: 107 consider the Bush presidency as a failure and 61% believe he has been the “worse president in the history of the US.”

The fruits:
A failed economy, full of speculation and week in confidence. An unimpressive foreign policy, the leadership of the most powerful nation in the world under doubt, two wars that consume the lives of thousands of soldiers and billions of dollars. Unemployment close to 8%, Millions of undocumented workers under the shadows and fear. Thousand of families separated by an inefficient immigration law. A completely broken financial system. A semi nationalized banking system.

But, the darkest hour of the day is the one closer to dawn and today the country is ready to turn the page and create a new opportunity. The light of change is shinning again. The comprehensive immigration reform has resurrected and with it hope for a better future for the undocumented immigrants.

However, the new administration will need the support of all who believe that with hard work, honesty and sacrifice success can be accomplished. With our support the new administration will be able to slowly start implementing some of the changes promised during the campaign.

Latinos here and across the nation must continue building the country so it will remain as the land of opportunity for the goodness of our children and grandchildren.
