La región oeste del estado de Carolina del Norte espera con gran expectativa la llegada de “La Noticia de las Montañas”. Los latinos de esta bella región necesitan recibir noticias de sus vecinos. Anhelan estar al tanto de los eventos y experiencias de otros como ellos, de personas que viven cerca y que trabajan con esmero para procurar el avance cultural, económico y espiritual de sus familias así como también del estado de Carolina del Norte.
Las colinas y montañas extienden su agradecimiento a Charlotte por “La Noticia”, no por arrebatarte de “la Nobleza de su Ciudad”, que ha sido su hogar por catorce años, sino por la gentileza de compartir la expansión de su influencia. Los latinos de las montañas añoran sus noticias de carácter local y regional, su sin igual énfasis en el arte y la poesía, su sección de salud y vivienda, sus noticias deportivas a nivel local e internacional y fotografías de los rostros tan bellamente familiares de empresarios, estudiantes y granjeros y resumiendo en una palabra, de los latinos en busca de escalar peldaños en la larguísima escalera de oportunidades que hay en Estados Unidos.
“La Noticia de las Montañas”, vendrá y ayudará, fortaleciendo a la comunidad hispano hablante de la región oeste de Carolina del Norte, estableciendo lazos fuertes, como los de una familia constituida por muchos países que están volviéndose parte de otra cultura, de un idioma diferente y de una nación nueva. La necesidad de que traiga motivación y esperanza en este tiempo tan difícil que el país atraviesa, en su propia búsqueda de hallar su lugar dentro de la comunidad de naciones, es inmensa.
Más aún, trae contigo, la inspiración que los niños y jóvenes latinos necesitan para tener la capacidad de avanzar en la educación y en el servicio a la humanidad, a través de la “Fundación La Noticia”, para estudiantes que viven y hablan Inglés tal y como los ciudadanos de esta vasta nación, pero que no han perdido su herencia cultural y menos aún su lenguaje. Muchos de estos estudiantes buscan, más allá, el que alguien camine junto a ellos y contribuya mediante la expresión de sus aspiraciones y su visión para la región oeste de este estado, a fin de que les sea concedido el privilegio de ser socios en una comunidad de la que hoy por hoy, han llegado a ser parte integral así como legal.
Los latinos adultos también le extienden la bienvenida, sabiendo que contribuirá mediante la enseñanza de cómo llegar a ser mejores padres y madres de familia, mismos que aprenderán lecciones de cómo construir hogares saludables y duraderos. Todos esperan sus reportajes deportivos, de sus equipos favoritos de fútbol y de los equipos que lideran los deportes alrededor del mundo.
Las agencias comunitarias y las iglesias le dan la bienvenida por reportar sus esfuerzos para el logro de una sociedad donde haya más justicia y misericordia. Deseamos leer reportajes de historias que se encuentran a diario tanto de las dificultades y del dolor como también de las victorias obtenidas en casa, en la escuela y en el trabajo. Estas necesitan ser fotografiadas a fin de ofrecer vistazos de vida y luz a la comunidad latina.

Western North Carolina awaits expectantly the arrival of “La Noticia de las Montañas”. The Latinos of this beautiful region need news of their neighbors. They long to learn of the events and experiences of others like them, of persons who live near and who work hard for the cultural, economic, and spiritual advance of their families and of the great state of North Carolina.
You have ably and amply brought the news to the lovely Latino community of Charlotte. In addition to the Charlotte area, now it is time for you to come up through the rolling foothills to Columbus and cross the continental divide of the Blue Ridge to historic Hendersonville, the home of the Apple Festival and Carl Sandburg; to Brevard, the land of waterfalls, art, and music; and to Asheville, the home of the Biltmore House, the Grove Park Inn, of Thomas Wolfe, and of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The hills and mountains are grateful to the city of Charlotte for “La Noticia”, not to take you from the “Queen City,” your home for fourteen years, but to share in your expanding influence. The Latinos of the mountains long for your local and regional news, for feature stories, for your emphasis upon art and poetry, for your section on health and housing, for your local and international sports news, and for the faces of farmers, entrepreneurs, and students—in a word, of Latinos who are seeking to climb America’s long ladder of opportunity.
"La Noticia de las Montañas”, come and help strengthen the Spanish-speaking community of Western North Carolina with strong bonds as one family of many countries who are becoming a part of another culture, language, and nation. The need is great for you to bring encouragement and hope in these hard times as the United States seeks to find its own way in the community of nations.
Bring with you, moreover, inspiration for Latino children and youth to be able to advance in education and in service through the “La Noticia Foundation,” students who live and speak English as citizens of this vast land, but who do not lose their cultural heritage or language. Many of these students seek, moreover, for someone to come along beside them and contribute to the conveying of their aspirations and their vision for Western North Carolina; so that they may be given the privilege of being partners in a society of which they are now a legal and vital part.
The Latino adults welcome you to assist in teaching them how to be more caring parents, fathers and mothers who may learn lessons of how to build healthy and lasting homes. They want your reporting of sports, of their soccer teams, and also the stories of leading teams all around the globe.
Community agencies and the churches welcome you to report their efforts for a more just and merciful society. Daily stories are being lived of both hardship and pain as well as of victories at home, at school, and at work. These need to be photographed and told to bring glimpses of life and light to the Latino community.
Western North Carolina welcomes you to be a partner in who they are and what they long to become.
